Nuevo periodismo latinoamericano : el género del perfil en Leila Guerriero.

Abstract

El perfil o profile es uno de los grandes géneros del New Journalism y del periodismo anglosajón en general. En las últimas tres décadas ha vivido un auge dentro del periodismo narrativo en español y entre las periodistas que han contribuido a ello se encuentra Leila Guerriero. El objetivo de esta tesis doctoral es analizar, describir y modelizar el género del perfil en la obra de Guerriero desde el marco del llamado Nuevo Periodismo Latinoamericano. Para situar la obra de Guerriero en su contexto, este estudio aborda en primer lugar una serie de cuestiones teóricas generales en torno al periodismo narrativo y a sus géneros; y en particular al perfil, que se define en el ámbito del Nuevo Periodismo Latinoamericano. En segundo lugar, se centra en la figura de Leila Guerriero, su biografía, su labor de editora, antologista y docente, su obra periodística y su metodología. Y por último, estudia exhaustivamente los perfiles periodísticos de Leila Guerriero desde el punto de vista estilístico y temático. El resultado ha permitido demostrar que los perfiles de Leila Guerriero entroncan con el New Journalism estadounidense a la vez que aportan una visión distinta y personal del mismo y una forma original de escribir periodismo narrativo que los acerca a la categoría de obra literaria.

The journalistic profile is one of the great genres of the New Journalism, and generally speaking, of Anglo-Saxon journalism as well. In the last three decades, the profile has experienced tremendous growth within narrative journalism in the Spanish language, and one of its contributors has been Leila Guerriero. The objective of this doctoral thesis is to analyze, describe and model the gender of the profile in Leila Guerriero's work from the framework of the so-called New Latin American Journalism. To place Leila Guerriero's work in context, this study first addresses a series of general theoretical questions about narrative journalism and its genres; and in particular the profile, which is defined in the field of New Latin American Journalism. Second, it focuses on the figure of Leila Guerriero, her biography, her work as editor, anthologist and teacher, her journalistic work and her methodology. And finally, it exhaustively studies the journalistic profiles of Leila Guerriero from the stylistic and thematic point of view. The results of our study have allowed us to demonstrate that Guerriero´s profiles are linked to the New Journalism of the USA, while at the same time they provide a distinct, personal vision of such journalism, in addition to an original way of writing narrative journalism that brings it closer to the domain of literature.
