Cartas de Concepción Arenal a Vicente Asuero y a su esposa, Facunda Villaescusa.

Abstract

En esta publicación se analizan y se reproducen las sesenta y dos misivas que Concepción Arenal escribió al eminente doctor Vicente Asuero y a su gran amiga, esposa de este, Facunda Villaescusa. A través del presente epistolario inédito se obtienen datos relevantes sobre unos años casi desconocidos de la pensadora gallega. Por estas cartas desfi lan también otros muchos personajes históricos que nos permiten reconstruir parte del modo de vida del interesante círculo de amistades al que perteneció Arenal entre 1844 y 1857, y a cuyos miembros no fallecidos siguió unida durante el resto de su vida.

Th e aim of this paper is to analyse and reproduce sixty-two letters from Concepción Arenal to the distinguished doctor Vicente Asuero and to his wife Facunda Villaescusa. Signifi cant data about some of the most unknown periods of the Galician theorist’s life can be obtained by this unpublished epistolary. Several historical fi gures are referred in these letters as they were part of Arenal’s group of friends from 1844 to 1857, with whom she stayed in touch until the end of her life.
