Alba Córdoba-Cabús. Research staff in Training in the Department of Journalism at the University of Malaga. Graduated in Journalism (2016) and Master’s in Investigation (2017), both with an Extraordinary Award. Since 2018 she is part of the Journalism Department of the UMA with an FPU contract granted by the Ministry and is a member of the “Study Group on Journalism and Communication” (SEJ-067). She has publications in Estudios sobre el Mensaje Periodistico, El Profesional de la información and RISTI, in publishers such as Pirámide and has participated in over 20 international conferences.

Manuel García-Borrego is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Malaga (UMA), where he has prepared his thesis on Journalism students and professional practices with an FPU grant. He has nearly twenty publications in high-impact publications and journals. Among them are El Profesional de la Información, Revista Latina Comunicación Social o Estudios Sobre el Mensaje Periodístico as well as chapters in books and publications such as Gedisa, Fragua o Dykinson. He has also defended thirty communications in international conferences, participated in three research projects and two IPPs, as well as carried out a research stay financed by the Ministry of Education at the University of Bergen (Norway).

This research provides a current snapshot of visualisations in the best data journalism stories, those nominated for the 2019 Data Journalism Awards by analysing typologies, the interactivity, and functions they serve.
