Sobre la libertad de palabra.

Abstract

La libertad de palabra sigue siendo el instrumento único e imprescindible para la comunicación humana. La palabra nos permite conocer al otro, ser conscientes de su individualidad, de sus anhelos, miedos, ideas, aspiraciones, frustraciones, sueños. Todo ello nos conforma como seres humanos y nos convierte en sujetos dotados de una dignidad intrínseca que la palabra debe respetar, y a través de la cual dicha dignidad, se manifiesta. El respeto al otro, la capacidad de entender sus posturas sin compartirlas es la esencia de nuestra sociedad. La libre discusión de ideas, el intercambio de pareceres, el acuerdo sobre la necesidad de la discrepancia es el mecanismo que convierte nuestro sistema de convivencia en un modelo.

Freedom of speech continues to be the only and essential instrument for human communication. The word allows us to know the other, to be aware of their individuality, their hopes, fears, ideas, aspirations, frustrations, dreams. All this shapes us as human beings and makes us subjects endowed with an intrinsic dignity that the word must respect, and through which this dignity is manifested. Respect for the other, the ability to understand their positions without sharing them is the essence of our society. The free discussion of ideas, the exchange of views, the agreement on the need for discrepancy is the mechanism that makes our coexistence system in a model.
