De hecho, esta proposición de Temistio resume a la perfección el hilo conductor de este trabajo y brinda el marco interpretativo adecuado para comprender la fecunda relación intelectual, personal y política que tuvieron no solo Constantino el Grande y Eusebio de Cesarea, sino también en siglos posteriores Teodorico el Grande y Casiodoro, Sisebuto y San Isidoro de Sevilla, Carlomagno y Alcuino de 􀀽ork, Carlos el Calvo y Escoto Erígena, Otón III y Gerberto de Aurillac, Federico II y Miguel Scoto, Carlos V el Sabio y Nicolás Oresme o Roberto II de Nápoles y Petrarca.
