Buscar por Materia By means of a selective path through different moments in History, and crisscrossing references from Architecture, History, Theory and the Art world, this text proposes the validity of organizational distribution and spatial mechanisms of pre-modern origin and based upon techniques of subdivision. Distribution and connection methods between correlative rooms, of Renaissance origin and later systematized during the Enlightenment, are argued to persist in different manifestations of Modern Architecture and how precisely these organizational rudiments, apparently basic, are capable of generating bigger effects or consequences upon the social and everyday functioning of architecture. The persistence of these devices in unrelated historic and cultural contexts proofs a certain a-temporality in their use, based more on the production of effects verifiable through use, than on the crystallization of spatial or compositional paradigms.
