The work addresses a review of the literature on religion in economic development studies. It highlights the need for an epistemology that overcomes positivism, a methodology that uses both quantitative and qualitative methods, the recognition of the diversity of sources of human knowledge and the broadening of economic horizons, as the paradigm of human development is doing.
